An increasingly common and vastly undertreated condition, erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability of a man to maintain an erection suitable for sexual intercourse. It affects up to 50% of men over 40 years old and appears to be more severe the older a man gets.
Psychological conditions such as depression, anxiety, and stress can reduce the ability to sustain an erection, as can heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoking, and obesity. Whatever the cause of your impotence, managing your emotions such as guilt or loss of self-confidence that accompany the condition can be difficult and also take a toll on your health and your relationships.

Have you noticed a decrease in your sex drive as you’ve gotten older? Or perhaps muscle mass has become harder and harder to achieve while your energy levels have dropped? A reduction in testosterone production, or hypogonadism, is likely responsible.
Hypogonadism, commonly referred to as “low T,” affects your sex drive, ability to build muscle, maintain bone strength, increases fatigue, growth of breast tissues and red blood cell production, which can reduce your energy. Low T can be diagnosed by a urologist through blood samples, a physical exam, and medical history. In some cases, we use diagnostic testing including MRI or CT scans, bone density scans, and blood draws to check hormone levels.

A frequently misunderstood and often overlooked condition, micropenis (or clinically small penis) refers to a penis that is significantly smaller in length and girth than the average for a man’s age and developmental stage, impacting sexual function, self-esteem, or psychological well-being. It affects an estimated 0.6% of adult men globally, with many cases going unreported due to stigma or lack of awareness about medical interventions.
Clinically diagnosed micropenis can be caused by a variety of factors, including insufficient testosterone secretion during fetal development, pituitary disease leading to hormonal dysregulation, or rare genetic abnormalities. Urologists or andrologists can diagnose the condition through a comprehensive evaluation, which typically includes a physical examination (penile length and girth, performed in both flaccid and erect states), a review of medical and developmental history, and so on. In some cases, additional diagnostic tools may be needed, such as genetic testing, pelvic ultrasound, or endocrine function assessment, to identify the underlying cause and guide personalized treatment planning.

An increasingly prevalent yet frequently unaddressed condition, premature ejaculation (PE) is the inability of a man to control the timing of ejaculation, resulting in climax that occurs sooner than desired during sexual activity—often within one minute of penetration—and causing distress to both partners. It affects approximately 20-30% of men across all age groups, with many experiencing persistent symptoms that impact sexual satisfaction and emotional well-being.
Premature ejaculation is one of the most common sexual dysfunctions in men. It not only affects sexual satisfaction but also emotional well-being, often leading to decreased self-confidence, avoidance of intimacy, or distress for both partners. Urologists or sexual health specialists can diagnose premature ejaculation through a comprehensive evaluation, including a detailed medical and sexual history, physical examination, and in some cases, psychological assessment to rule out underlying medical causes. In some cases, auxiliary diagnostic tools such as sensory threshold tests can be used to develop targeted treatment plans.
